Willis 5-Star Athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr. Signs With Texas on National Signing Day

WILLIS, Texas — One of the most dynamic athletes in Texas high school football is headed to Austin. Willis five-star standout Jermaine Bishop Jr. officially signed with the Texas Longhorns on National Signing Day, giving head coach Steve Sarkisian another elite playmaker for the future.

Bishop, widely regarded as one of the top players in the state of Texas, showcased versatility throughout his high school career. During the 2025 season, the Willis star made an impact on both sides of the ball, playing cornerback, safety, wide receiver, punt returner, punter, and even throwing for multiple touchdowns on offense.

His ability to influence games in all three phases made him one of the most sought-after recruits in the country and a perfect fit for Sarkisian’s system.

Elite Versatility Sets Bishop Apart

At Willis, Bishop was far more than a shutdown defender. His speed, instincts, and football IQ allowed the coaching staff to deploy him wherever he was needed most. Whether locking down opposing receivers, returning punts, or creating big plays on offense, Bishop consistently delivered in crucial moments of the game.

Recruiting analysts praise Bishop’s elite athleticism, ball skills, and open-field explosiveness, traits that project well at the next level. His multi-position experience gives Texas flexibility to use him in a variety of roles as he develops.

A Perfect Fit for Sarkisian’s Vision

Under Sarkisian, Texas has prioritized athletes who can stretch the field, create mismatches, and contribute early. Bishop checks every box. His playmaking ability aligns with an offense built on speed, spacing, and creativity, while his defensive versatility provides immediate value on special teams and in the secondary. With Texas continuing its rise on the national stage, Bishop joins a Longhorns recruiting class stacked with elite talent and championship expectations.
