DeSoto Eagles star Sarod Baker is delivering one of the most dominant playoff performances in Texas high school football history, powering DeSoto to the UIL Texas State Championship with a record-setting postseason run.

Baker has been nearly unstoppable throughout the 2025 UIL playoffs, racking up just over 1,500 all-purpose yards and 19 total touchdowns in only five playoff games. His explosive speed, vision, and physicality has made him one of the most talked-about players in the state.

The historic stretch reached another level in DeSoto’s playoff matchup against Willis, where Baker erupted for seven total touchdowns, and putting the game away early. The performance immediately placed him among the elite single-game playoff showings in UIL history and opened a lot of eyes across Texas high school football.

Baker followed that up with yet another jaw-dropping outing against Southlake Carroll, finishing with more than 400 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. Against one of the state’s most dominant defenses, Baker consistently broke long runs, created explosive plays in space, and delivered when DeSoto needed it most.

Through every round of the postseason, Baker has elevated his game against elite competition. His ability to control tempo, flip field position, and score from anywhere on the field has been a major reason DeSoto is back on the biggest stage in Texas high school football.

Now, Baker and the Eagles turn their attention to CE King, a fast, athletic team that thrives on speed and defensive pressure. The UIL Texas State Championship matchup will take place Saturday at AT&T Stadium (Jerry’s World), where Baker will look to add another chapter to his already historic playoff run.

With momentum, confidence, and history on his side, Sarod Baker enters the UIL Texas State Championship as one of the most dangerous players in the state—and a performance fans across Texas won’t want to miss.
